Food in kolhapur

 Kolhapuri Tambada-pandhra

When you say Kolhapur, the red and white broth comes before your eyes.  Kolhapur's most famous non-veg thali.  Both of these risks are popular as a starter before the main feast begins when guests arrive home.  Water is used while cooking mutton as a base for making white gravy, while red chilies are used more for making red gravy.  Both soups have varying degrees of pungency.


Pithala- Bhakari

Another well-known dish in Kolhapur is Pithalam Bhakri, accompanied by a zingy mix of chilies. What comes up when you say Zanjanit is hot pithala and Jowar/Bajri bread topped with a little crushed chili...lemon...onion and curd aha! The most comforting food in Maharashtra is pithal bhakri.  Pithala, Bhakari, Mirachicha thecha, and raw onion with green chilies is a fantastic combination.  Pithal Bhakri is said to be the food of poverty and farmer in Maharashtra. But the simplicity of the farmer and the poor can be seen in this Pithal-Bhakri.




Kolhapuri Misal

A must-try is the tangy Tambada White and the Jhunka Bhakar, which exudes simplicity, along with the delicious Misal. Just try the delicious misal made from spicy masala like the spicy nature of the people here.  Katachi moda amti with farsana topped with onion lemon and two slices of bread ahaha!  Known as the most famous street food of Kolhapur, this Katdar Misal is a must try for every tourist.  Just as the people here are friendly and welcoming, this misal tastes amazing with the sweetness of the farsan and the spiciness of the gravy.
